LEGALITIES: Voter's ID

I finally got registered after 6 years of legal age!
I'm now a registered voter :D

So, why get an ID now?
1. So that I can have another valid ID other than my passport which is risky to bring cause it might get lost and just thinking of the consequences and hassles of losing it is stressful enough.
2. To finally exercise my right to vote.
3. Deadline is on October 31.
4. It's FREE.

Last Friday (Oct. 19), Bee and I went to Pasig City Hall to apply for a Voters ID, it was around lunch time and luckily there were only a few people there. Hooray to NO NOON BREAK policy in government offices! Employees can't go simultaneously on breaks but take turns instead.

Others say that you need a Community Tax Certificate (Cedula) to apply, but in our case we were only asked to present a valid ID bearing our photo and complete/present address. My passport doesn't have an address written on it and was only valid for verifying my identity, luckily I brought my Health Certificate ID (issued by Pasig City Hall) which they allowed because it had my photo and address written on it.

Another thing , you don't really need your TIN No. in case you forgot about it.

Steps in applying for a Voter's ID (as we have experienced it):
1. Go to the Interviewer so he could ask you a few questions and verify your identity and residence. He/She will issue you an application form;
Tip: You can actually fill-up your registration form first if you already downloaded the form via online. Downloadable form: CEF-1A
2. Fill-up the form in three (3) copies;
3. Biometrics;
4. Thumb stamp on application form;
5. Signing of Officer in charge;
6. Get your Acknowledgement receip;
7. Get their landline number to follow-up on your Voter's ID or via online through PRECINCT FINDER
Tip: It takes months before you can get your actual Voter's ID. Be patient :

Reminders:
1. Bring a BLACK pen. I forgot to bring one and had to buy for P5.00.
2. The address written in your ID should match the address you wrote on your application form.
3. Have a photocopy of your valid ID.
4. You do not have to pay for anything, its FREE.
5. Valid ID should bear your photo and present address or you'll just be wasting your time. They do not consider your cedula as a valid document for verification of your address, hence you won't be able push through with your application.
6. Come early, people start to pile up after lunch.
