ZOMBII BRIDE: Dream Chapel

I instantly fell in love with this chapel. I've always wanted a simple yet elegant wedding just like Landon and Jamie's wedding in the movie "A walk to remember."
This is the spousal of Mary and Joseph Chapel in Club Balai Isabel, Batangas. Situated beside the ruins of a 17th century church, they say that it could be the old church of Tanauan that was destroyed by the volcano's eruption.

I love the big glass windows that allow natural lighting how simple the altar is.

By the way, I'm not getting married yet just sharing my thoughts.

To friends and readers of my blog- DIBS on this chapel! Haha :D

MUNCHSTER BITES: S&R 99-ers

Dining alone is such a hassle for me, no one to share with and it comes out expensive. So after my ukay shopping in Cubao I remembered that there's a S&R Newyork Style Pizza in Puregold Cubao, not far from the ukay stores and checked if they still have their P99 peso promo. Drumroll: Yay! I was able to avail it and although I was craving for pizza I couldn't help being curious so I ordered their cheeseburger instead just to try it out.(Btw, this post is late so I'm not sure if they still have this)

The Cheeseburger: So worth it! (Originally this costs P99/ala carte). The burger was moist and juicy plus you can put unlimited onions and sauces.
The Fries: Real potato goodness. Fat fries is way better than thin ones. (Originall costs P49/ala carte)
Huge Drink: I couldn't even finish half of it, too bad Bee's not with me. He's the monster when it comes to drinks. (Originally costs P39/large cup)

Photo Menu: S&R Menu  (just got this from Flickr, I do not own this photo)

Bee-day Series: Masatami

Welcome to Jai's Bee-day Series food expedition! :D

First stop, Hawaiian Shave Ice! And because its a special day we ordered their bestseller "THE WORKS" which consisted of bubble gum syrup, banana syrup, strawberry syrup and snow cap (condensed milk, i think) plus we chose to add vanilla ice cream (can you see it?).

One order of this is enough for two people. Yummy shave ice to start off our full course meal adventure. Jai loves to eat shave ice and we were lucky enough to stumble upon Masatami on his special day. And surely, we'll be back :D

Hat's off to their service staff for excellent service. Our order came on time and its really nice to be assisted by someone who exudes a positive aura :) Too bad I didn't get her name.

MENU:

A cool treat for sharing! I recommend Masatami to those who love and would want to experience a mix of yummy flavors in one cup.
Btw, you can re-use their flower cone cups :D

MUNCHSTER BITES: Bagnet 8065

Vigan in Makati, this is how I would describe Bagnet.8065. One of my dream travel escapades is going to Vigan for the primary purpose of tasting authentic Ilocos Bagnet. Jai and I were planning to go to Vigan for our 5th year anniversary this August, unfortunately we were short of cash. Next year, August 13, 2013 we will definitely go on this trip!

Instead of feeling depressed I channeled my energy into looking for other ways to celebrate and luckily I saw a Bagnet 8065 deal in Cash Cash Pinoy, P150 for P300 worth of food and drinks. I read great reviews about the restaurant and there's some hearsay that the owner is a relative of Kitchie Nadal who is a famous OPM singer.

I got excited and immediately took advantage of the deal to somehow have a Vigan inspired date.

We decided to have our pre-anniversary dinner because of the voucher's validity and because our anniversary fell on a weekday.

I was in charge of directions and as Bee expected, we got lost and missed the street so we had to go two blocks back. He teased me all the way back and told me that I made a mistake in drawing the map. I hate to admit it but he was right, we both laughed all the way to the restaurant.

Bagnet 8065 is a hole in the wall restaurant hidden within Estrella Street, Makati City. You have the option to walk or take a tricycle to the restaurant. If you’re going with someone we recommend that you just walk. It’s a 10 minute walk from Estrella Street arc.

The restaurant is divided into two areas, the al fresco/ smoking area and the air-conditioned/ non-smoking area. Upon entering, you’ll be greeted by Kermit the frog sitting on a rock in a small pond landscape.
Behind Jai is a graffitti wall filled with messages from celebrities and regular diners.

We were seated beside their mural wall where various artsy ornaments, drawings and books were displayed.

Bagnet 8065 offers different versions of Bagnet such as Binagoongan, Curry, Sinigang, Dinuguan etc., we chose Bagnet Kare-Kare with 3 orders of Bagoong Rice. Yes you heard it right, 3 orders!

The Bagnet had the crunch and flavor that we were looking for. A generous serving of thick Kare-Kare sauce and bagoong over the bagnet, it would have been better though if the bagoong was salty rather that sweet.

Bagnet 8065 is worth the trip and the money. Lip smacking bagnet for a reasonable price.

Happy 5th year to us BEE!

Bite Cost: P110-P240/person
Munch Worthy: Yes. One of the best Bagnet we’ve tasted so far. 10/10 bites!
Walker repeat: Yes. Will try other varieties of Bagnet dishes.

Bee-day Series: The Iscreamist

The Iscreamist uses liquid nitrogen as a refrigerant. The main concept is directly pouring liquid nitrogen on their ice cream upon serving, so you get your ice cream extremely cold. Another twist is serving liquid nitrogen in a styro cup and dip stick snacks to freeze.
Liquid Nitrogen according to Wikipedia is nitrogen in a liquid state at an extremely low temperature. At atmospheric pressure, liquid nitrogen boils at −196 °C (77 K; −321 °F) and is a cryogenic fluid which can cause rapid freezing on contact with living tissue, which may lead to frostbite. CAUTION: Carelessly handling of liquid nitrogen may result to cold burns.

The BIG question is, why is this concept talked about and patronized by yuppies given the dangers of contact with LN? In our case, it felt like doing something illegal :D
