MUNCHSTER BITES: Longganisa Sorpresa

Jai surprised me one morning when he planned a breakfast date to celebrate our monthsary last January. We decided to try Longganisa Sorpresa, one of the new restaurants in Kapitolyo, Pasig City.

Longganisa Sorpresa offers a variety of Longanissa from different provinces in the Philippines. I never knew I would have a hard time choosing what longganisa to eat plus what vinegar to partner it with.

We ordered their set breakfast meal for only P99. Your choice of longganisa served with garlic rice and iced tea. I ordered their Cabanatuan Longganissa (maasim). I loved it! I've always been a fan of sour foods. Its best with Sukang Iloko.
Jai ordered their Cagayan De Oro longganissa which was sweet. I didn't really like it that much. He said it tasted okay but was not really worthy of a repeat. Well, Jai's not really a breakfast person.

Jai thinks that its a bit pricey for P99.00 but I think that its already reasonably priced because it came with a glass of iced tea already.

In my opinion, Kapitolyo is now turning into a foodie paradise, lots of varieties and hole-in-the-wall restaurants. Its great that my bf lives in the area. :D

So save time and money and the best longganisa of your choice from different longganisa capitals without the leaving metro manila.

Total Food Cost: P207.90 (P99/meal x2 + 5% service charge)

MUNCHSTER BITES: Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant

The Vikings have arrived! An early Valentines treat for me and my piggy "Jai"

This is the best breakfast buffet I've tried so far. Our food date budget was a bit higher than our usual P500.00 budget for special dates. We made an exception this love month- celebrating our monthsary and valentines.

Our good friends, Ian and Phoebe suggested that we try Vikings Buffet. We were game but our wallets wasn't ready for the challenge. Luckily, one of my favorite groupon sites - DealGrocer featured a promo from Vikings. P470 only for the Lazy Breakfast Buffet - that's 35% off its original value! So, we made our reservation for Feb. 11, 2012 (first day of validity) via text. We suggest that you contact them either through facebook or via mobile, much easier and faster confirmation rather than calling their landline.

We arrived past 9:30 am and there were a few customers dinning that time. I was really hungry and couldn't wait for a food porn experience. :D

I only took a few photos (sorry guys, was really really hungry that time)

The food was delish! Yummy goodness.
Here are some of the food items we've tried:
Tenderloin Steak- drizzled with red wine sauce, I got 7 slices of steak! Cooked medium-well, easy to slice through the meat. No flapping of wings needed
Bacon- crispy, a bit oily but GOOD! - (realization: maybe I won't be a vegan after all)
Tuna Sashimi- was ok. Good enough
Hakaw- thumbs down for me, dry
Yogurt- Makes me want to take their yogurt machine home
Beef Tapa- Sweet, I suggest you eat this with vinegar
Beef Kabab- dry (didn't like it)
Pizza- was ok, thin crust
Leche flan- yummy (jai)

The buffet was not limited to breakfast items- all of the stations were open such as:
Japanese (sushi, sashimi, miso soup, shabu-shabu, fried rice ++)
Chinese (dimsum (hakaw, sharks fin), congee ++)
Grill/Roast (Ham, Tenderloin Steak) - lamb available at lunch
Seafood (lots of variety)
Pizza & Pasta
Dessert Station (Frozen Yogurt, Shakes, Halo2, Chocolate Fondue ++)
Cold Cuts
Drinks (lots of variety)
And many more...

This buffet is so "SULIT", worth every centavo. We didn't eat lunch after eating here. Hitting two birds with one stone!

We're definitely coming back. With promo or without. Maybe on my birthday :D
Lazy Breakfast starts at 9am-11am. P688 + 5% service charge = P722 per person

Total Food Cost: P722/person x 2 = P1,444.00 (inclusive of service charge plus VAT)

Our total cash out: P470/person (deal grocer voucher) x 2 = P940.00

Walker Map: From Crossing Edsa-Central (under MRT Shaw Blvd)
1. Ride a bus going to Mall of Asia.
2. P25.00 bus fare.
3. Touchdown MOA!
4. Walk to Vikings Luxury Buffet Restaurant

A little tip (if bringing your own car) Vikings is not inside MOA Bldg. B but By the bay, Seaside Boulevard. We parked at SMX and had to walk going there. It took us at least 15-20 min. of walking. Whew.

Bite Cost: P700 - P1,200/person
Munch Worthy:  Yes! Yummy food. 10 bites!
Walker repeat: Definitely. Friendly staff and fast service

Our date might not be romantic or extravagant, no candlelit dinner or string quartet or bouquet of flowers, for us the most important thing is being with someone who laughs with you, does crazy things with you and loves everything about you and stays with you no matter what.

Love Vikings? Date plans this love month? Share your story :D
Just comment away if you have questions. Thanks! ***Vikings did not pay me to write this blog.

MUNCHSTER BITES: Mr. Teppan

After a stressful afternoon at BIR I invited Jai to avail the voucher I bought from ebay kuponan for P200 worth of food and drinks from Gloria Jeans but before heading straight to the cafe, Jai invited me to have dinner first.

We didn't want to spend a lot of money that day (actually we don't want to spend as much as possible #cheapmunchsters) so we scouted for cheap eats at Robinsons Galleria's food court and luckily stumbled upon Mr. Teppan.
There's an on-going promo for Ala carte items where you only pay half the price. Yes, you heard it right- 50% off on your food. The promo began last January 23 and will end this February 29, 2012 in celebration of the Chinese New Year.

We ordered Beef Teppan, Seafood Fried Rice and Beef Fried Rice.

Beef Teppan (P160/order)-Not worth the price, few servings.
Taste wise, I loved the marinade and butter with garlic although the beef was a bit rubbery.

Seafood Fried Rice (P75/order)-Tasty. Good Enough. This was Jai's order.
Good for 2.

Beef Fried Rice (P75/order)-Yummy! Loved this. It reminded me of Kimpura's Fried Rice.
But of course, Kimpura's version is way better. Good for 2.

Too much rice? It's Jai's fault. :D He thought that one order = one cup of rice, which was unusual for its regular price of P75/order. You kind of assume that its more that one cup of rice right? :D Anyway, we enjoyed our budget dinner.

You can still avail of this yummy deal up to February 29, just drop by their branch in Robinsons Galleria food court.

Total Food Cost: Beef Teppan - P160.00 + Seafood Fried Rice - P75.00 + Beef Fried Rice - P75 = P310.00

Our total cash out: P155.00 (because of the 50% discount).

Walker Map: From MRT Ortigas Station
1. Walk towards EDSA shrine at Robinsons Galleria
2. Go to the Foodcourt area.
3. Mr. Teppan (kiosk) is located in front of Mcdonalds Dessert Station.

Bite Cost: P60 - P150/person
Munch Worthy: Yummy but not worth it, pricey for serving size. 7 bites!
Walker repeat: Only if the food costs 50% off.

Located at Robinsons Galleria food court, near Mcdonalds Desserts Station
